WONDERFUL EARLY PRIMITIVE CANDLE STORAGE BOX-OLD PAINT & DECORATION

Here in an early primitive slide lid candle or storage box in old black paint. Just as found, it was decorated on both the outer surface, the interior and even the base.

Measuring 12 3/4" x 8" x 4" tall, this early box was constructed with irregular nails. The lid has chamfered edges as well as a carved out finger pull, so the construction is quite early and hand executed. There are painted initials (ES) on the bottom, which may or may not be representative of the maker.

This primitive candle box was originally found in a rural area of Pennsylvania. I wouldn't be afraid to call it one of a kind, and most definitely an interesting folksy primitive piece.($150)
