LARGE EARLY FIRKIN-BEST OLD SAGE GREEN PAINT

Found in New England,I am offering for your consideration an early firkin in old dry sage gray/green paint.

It was constructed with double bands on the base, one on the upper edge and one on the lid. The lapped bands are held with small early tack construction as opposed to the later staples.

The makers name/mark is found indented on the lid.

This early firkin measures 11 3/4" tall, 11 3/4" across the lid and 12 1/4" across the base. This size should work well toward the bottom of your stack!

Very good primitive condition. Just the way we like to find early pieces..untouched and as found. I will mention for accuracy that the base has an insignificant issue, with a small missing piece(as shown) but primitives aren't expected to be perfect. This issue will does in no way harm the integrity of the piece and is hidden inside the staves.

Circa: 19th century. New England origin. 100% American! ($295)
