EXCEPTIONAL EARLY FOOTED COILED RYE BEE HIVE BASKET

Here is an exceptional early footed coiled rye Bee Hive basket. It was used for gathering purposes, likely for eggs, apples or perhaps nuts.

It measures 7 1/2" across the rim and is 9" tall. It will likely appear larger in person due to its unique and near perfect form. The surface shows age provided patina from being handled and use.

A great example of early basketry with a form you don't often find.

Circa: 1870 - 1880. A family heirloom for over a century. Purchased in New England. ($275)
