EARLY TIN SHOREBIRD DECOY - Circa 1874 - FOUND IN NEW ENGLAND

Here is an early tin shorebird decoy for your consideration. This rarely found piece was part of a collection found in New England.

It was created in two separate halves with wire connectors for the capability of stacking. It measures 11 1/2" long, in its entirety.

Fortunately, there is no speculation as to the age of this decoy as it was patent dated on the interior, Oct.27, 1874. Although this example is not entirely ledgible, I have seen other identical examples out of the same collection that are easier to read. That being said, this piece shows expected wear and paint loss for a piece that would be 145 years of age. ($225)
